Mackay Fly & Sportfishing offers full day guided sportfishing in the waters of the Seaforth area and surrounding waters of the Mackay region as well as the lakes scattered throughout the magnificent Pioneer valley.
SALTWATER FISHING
MFSF specialises in flats sight fishing for Golden Trevally, Queenfish, Black Spot Tusk fish, Morwong aka Bastards, Permit and more on the flats, finding and targeting Longtail Tuna, Mackerel Tuna and other pelagic species when in season. Barramundi and Threadfin Salmon in the creeks and rivers as well as the flats . We also target Giant Trevally aka GT’s with poppers and stick baits along with Queenfish which are wildly popular with sports as well as fly fisherman on surface poppers and sub surface lures . At certain times of the year we can have sensational topwater popper action with these hard fighting and acrobatic fish.
FRESHWATER FISHING
Our guided freshwater excursions encompass a variety of different locations. The day will be dependent on the species we are targeting and the current conditions of the fishery and weather conditions.
The serenity and scenery of the waters of Teemburra, Kinchant and Eungella Dams make these fishing experiences memorable. We can also fish some smaller more intimate rivers systems that offer very unique opportunities. The fish that we seek are all highly prized by sports fishermen. They include Barramundi, Sooty Grunter and Saratoga which are all willing to eat a fly or a lure or both subsurface or top water.
Making your fishing experience optimal is our goal. To that end we can equip the angler with specialized, quality rods, reels, lines, lures and flies for all methods of fishing including fly, spin and bait casting, etc. Loss or damage to any equipment supplied to you by Mackay Fly & Sportfishing during the charter will incur a replacement charge. Please feel free to bring and use your own equipment if you wish. Paul is more than happy to discuss what tackle may be required for your time on the water.
MFSF offers bush camp style guided fishing for that ultimate get away from the rat race ! either setting up camp on the banks of a river west of the Mackay region to target Saratoga on fly or lures [Min 3 days due to trave distances ] or up at the beautiful Eungella dam to target the Big resident Sooty Grunter on surface lures an fly [2 day minimum ] All you need is your cloths, hat, camera and sunglasses, we supply the rest so all you concentrate on is enjoying the environment and the fishing .
